Prof Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aty

Mahmoud Abdel-Aty is a renowned professor of mathematics and information science at the University of Science and Technology, Zewail City. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Assuit University, Egypt, and a Master of Science degree in applied mathematics from the same university. Abdel-Aty later moved to Germany, where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in applied mathematics from the Max Plank Institute for Quantum Optics. In 2007, he obtained a Doctor of Science degree in mathematics and physics from the National University of Uzbekistan. He began his career as an assistant lecturer at Assuit University and later held various positions at Egypt’s South Valley University. Abdel-Aty’s research interests include applied mathematics, mathematical modeling, quantum circuits, quantum computation and information processing, transition state spectroscopy, laser control of physical systems, and the foundation of quantum mechanics. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the National Award of Excellence in Basic Sciences, Prof. Fayza Al-Khoraphy’s prize in physics, Amin Lotfy’s Prize for Basic Sciences, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize, and the State Prize of Distinction in Mathematical Sciences.
